Nestled in the Okanagan Valley on the shores of the Okanagan Lake is the city of Kelowna. First settled in the mid 1800's Kelowna is now a thriving city of over 100,000 people, it is the technological and cultural center of the Okanagan Valley. Because of it's unique location, Kelowna enjoy some of the most favorable weather conditions in Canada.. On average the area receives higher than normal hours per day sunshine, and very low average precipitation. This has caused the area to be classed as semi-arid.
That doesn't stop us from enjoying this wonderful area however, as modern irrigation allows for lush green golf courses and some of the most well known vineyards in the world. In fact, Kelowna and the Okanagan Valley are famous for its wineries. Our local wineries are world renowned for their production standards and the quality of their products, winning awards world wide.

The name Kelowna is derived from its Indian name which means grizzly bear, but you would be hard pressed to find one of these magnificent creatures in any civilized areas. While grizzlies may have once roamed this land they are not often seen now. Kelowna is rich with history. From the construction of the incredible Kettle Valley Railway to the fur trade in the valley to prospecting for gold in the area. Now Kelowna is known for it's spectacular views, great golf, superb skiing and just about everything else.
